8 Things in Life to Be Thankful For

Now more than ever there is a need for all of

us to find the little things in life that we can be

thankful for.

There have always been moments

where people have had difficulties and

there have also been times that many individuals

have had to do without.

And they had to sacrifice a great

deal to survive and to help support their families.

It has often been said that a little hard work and

some degree of difficulty in living

is good for the soul

And as it turns out,

is also good for our motivation,

determination and level of personal satisfaction.

So with this in mind –

let us learn how to truly

give thanks.

1 – I HAVE A ROOF OVER MY HEAD (at least I do right now).

Whether you live in an apartment or a single family home – keep this in mind when you begin to have doubts about your life – there are many who are less fortunate in the world and who are homeless.   At least we have warmth and shelter.

2 – I HAVE FOOD TO EAT AND CLOTHES TO WEAR.

Think about it –

where else in the world are food and clothing so abundantly available?

– We can get anything we want pretty much when we want it - to the point of overeating and excess.

And most of the time we don't appreciate it...we just expect it.

3 – I AM HEALTHY.

For most of us, this is a true statement. Keep in mind however, that life is fragile and things can change.     And we can lose anything at any moment – unfortunately this includes health.

So, it is important to be thankful for things we have going for us while we have them – and try not complain after we lose them.

Life is all about the changes and we are meant to experience revisions in life as they occur.  So don't lose hope.   Stay faithful and prayerful and wait on the hand of God.

4 - THE WORLD IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE IN WHICH TO LIVE.

How many of us wake up each day and smell the roses and say thank you for my life?   As soon as the sun begins to rise in the morning sky – birds are singing, gardens show color and the morning light brings a warm glow to the earth – and that’s just in your yard.

Try to remember to take a look at the beauty and take one minute of your life at a time.

5 - I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPERIENCE LOVE FOR - OR FROM - SOMEONE ELSE.

Just about every person has at least experienced some type of love or compassion or concern from or for another human or animal – at least to some

degree.   The importance of our lives and living is dependent upon our bonding to others emotionally, spiritually and physically.

6 – I HAVE MY SENSES – SIGHT, HEARING, TASTE, TOUCH AND SMELL.

For those who have lost any one of these things – life can be difficult.

For example, if we cannot hear...we lose out on words and music and birds singing in a nearby tree.   We lose sound and connection to sound.

If we cannot see - we have lost color and picture and visual beauty that surrounds us constantly.

If we cannot taste - we have lost flavor in life and enjoyment for what we put into our mouth.

So, when we realize that our experience in life comes to us through the senses, we begin to realize that when we have these 5 things (and possibility a 6th - perception) – we are indeed fortunate.

7 – I HAVE THE ABILITY TO MAKE CHOICES.

As of this moment in time...we are free in this country to live the way we want to and to choose directions that are right for us.   It actually makes living in the good old U.S.A. the best place in the world.

We have the right to agree or to disagree. To have religious beliefs and not be persecuted or censored.

Note - Pick up a history book sometime and read about what other people went through for freedom in this world and you will see how very blessed we are.

8 – MODERN CONVENIENCES.

Like washers, dryers, air-conditioning, blow dryers, computers, cell-phones, laser surgeries, etc.  All the many things that make our life simple and things others would have never thought of some 70 years ago.   We have it so easy now due to modern conveniences.

We seem to have it all.

That being said, most of us aren’t even aware of how comfortable our lives really are and we often take things for granted.

Again, try to look back in time and to history and you will be truly amazed!

There Are Many Things

We Can Find To Be Thankful For…

We Just Have To Look For Them.

We have only to look around us...

to breathe the air,

to feel the warmth,

to experience the moment...

to know what it is…

to be alive.
